Focusing on the validity of others' experiences and ideas can sometimes feel in conflict with the validity of own experience. Yet purposeful counterintuitive thinking can be helpful in exploring and building our capacity to have and show genuine compassion. What helps you practice non-judgment with people? [image description: A heart with one wild braid of hair smiles toward another heart who smiles back. The heart with braid of hair is thinking, "Let them hate olives in peace, Anna." Text reads: "My personal NON-JUDGMENT helps me build home in the land of compassion." Off to the side is a sign in the ground that is partially out of view but reads, "Welcome to the land of compassion."] #MindfulHearts retrospective. On this day 2020. On this day 2019. In response to the much-needed call for #COVIDCompassion, #MindfulHearts offers the sister chant of #QuarantineCompersion.
The art and skill of understanding the suffering of others and feeling and acting on the impulse to lessen that suffering goes hand in hand with the art and skill of feeling and acting on the impulse to nourish joy everywhere. May we all have moments of joy that grow and extend through the times we live in and beyond. |
