My father, Jerrold Hirsch, gave me my first job as a freelance editor in 2003 doing a final proof of the book that he began writing before I was born in 1980. Over the years, my father has taught me in many subtle ways a bunch of important skills for being with the everlasting changes of life. In the year 2003 alone with the publication of his book Portrait of America: A Cultural History of the Federal Writer's Project, he taught me about endurance in writing, seizing unlikely opportunities to collaborate and grow together, and the importance of expressions of gratitude, love, and silliness in getting through life.

The final heart has only one spike of hair, which is different than the rest of the hearts, and is labeled with a spiral symbol. Text reads: "Learning that I must learn that I am you."]
