On Alan's Polyamory in the News! blog post on compersion for beginners, Croation author Adrian P. Kazele comments: "It will not mean much to English-speaking people, but just for your information, in my language, Croatian, the word for jealousy is LJUBOMORA, which means 'that which kills love.' Writing recently my book about polyamory, I came up with new term LJUBOŽIVA, which means 'that which makes love alive.' So, at least we are equipped with a nice domestic term for compersion!" In what ways do you experience compersion as making love more alive? [image description: A group of smiling hearts is gathered in a green, grassy field around a blossoming flower with heart-shaped petals. One of the hearts is holding a watering can. Two of the hearts are holding hands. There are two smaller bright red hearts bubbling up between two pairs of hearts, but not between the hearts holding hands. Text reads: "ljuboživa" and below that, "That which makes love alive."] #MindfulHearts retrospective. On this day 2021. On this day 2020. On this day 2019. Celebrating three years of daily cartoons.

In response to the much-needed call for #COVIDCompassion, #MindfulHearts offers the sister chant of #QuarantineCompersion.
The art and skill of understanding the suffering of others and feeling and acting on the impulse to lessen that suffering goes hand in hand with the art and skill of feeling and acting on the impulse to nourish joy everywhere. May we all have moments of joy that grow and extend through the times we live in and beyond. |
