We may want to let go of some arguments for the sake of connection. At the same time, it's ok to want to be right. It's ok to fight for what we believe in and what we sense is good. We don't have to give up on our values and convictions, or on our experiences of life, in order to embrace moments of stretching around the how and the how much we are holding our point of view. Taking an intentional breath to expand the lungs and the body, and to expand time and space, around our needs, desires, and causes, can open us to more freedom and love through empathy, compassion, and perspective-taking. And even as we practice in these ways, we never have to give up on ourselves and our truths in that process. How do you practice holding both connection and conviction together?
