The moment when a new metamour shows up in our lives can be a moment that feels welcome, exciting, upsetting, uncomfortable, scary, neutral, annoying, easeful, complicated, slow, fast, a lot, a helluva lot, not much, disregulating, discombobulating, ecstatic, calming, uneventful, and any combination of these plus much, much more. Because of all that can come up with new metamour relationships, we may need time and care to orient to the new context of our lives. Whether our new metamour is part of an established relationship or they are new to an older configuration, we may have myriad reasons that we need to take care with our own heart and with the wellness of the whole landscape moving forward. Metamours can also do collective care around childhood trauma and attachment wounding, and this process may take considerable time and attention. What's something you do or have witnessed others do to move with care for yourself and others in new metamour relationships?
