While we may long for some points of contact or a change in current conditions, for some future outcomes or a remembered past experience, we may be able to simultaneously practice appreciating the way in which what we long for does exist in the world and is presently being enjoyed by someone. Practicing this kind of generosity with joy can at times feel like a kind of fake-it-til-you-make-it endeavor. At the same time, feeling gratitude for universal joy can also arise through counting our own blessings in concert with the blessings of others. What're some concurrent and varied joys you can notice today for yourself and for others?

In response to the much-needed call for #COVIDCompassion, #MindfulHearts offers the sister chant of #QuarantineCompersion. The art and skill of understanding the suffering of others and feeling and acting on the impulse to lessen that suffering goes hand in hand with the art and skill of feeling and acting on the impulse to nourish joy everywhere. May we all have moments of joy that grow and extend through the times we live in and beyond.
