Generosity with joy may in fact always require self-involvement. In order to resonate and harmonize with and uplift others' joy, we may need to have the sound of joy reverberating inside ourselves as well. And for this reason, we may benefit from practicing with feeling our own true joy and happiness. We may in turn need to acknowledge that our joy is also impermanent and fleeting, yet regenerative with care and self-attunement. Share a wish for your own joy this week.

In response to the much-needed call for #COVIDCompassion, #MindfulHearts offers the sister chant of #QuarantineCompersion. The art and skill of understanding the suffering of others and feeling and acting on the impulse to lessen that suffering goes hand in hand with the art and skill of feeling and acting on the impulse to nourish joy everywhere. May we all have moments of joy that grow and extend through the times we live in and beyond.
