We maybe don't often consider how therapy can be playful. We may even wonder how play can be helpful in healing. As adults, we me judge the way some therapy with children appears to us as play without purpose, and we may miss the ways that play is a doorway to everything else going on in young people's hearts and minds. And we may also have been taught that therapy with adults is a serious matter, and so judge the way that some therapy we've encountered is also purposefully play-oriented as a doorway to our younger parts. When given invitations to play in therapy, we may therefore reasonably feel a range of emotions or have a range of reactions. What's a way that you've experienced play in therapy? Or, what's a question you have about how play happens in therapy? ~ ~ ~ #TherapyCan

In response to the much-needed call for #COVIDCompassion, #MindfulHearts offers the sister chant of #QuarantineCompersion.
The art and skill of understanding the suffering of others and feeling and acting on the impulse to lessen that suffering goes hand in hand with the art and skill of feeling and acting on the impulse to nourish joy everywhere. May we all have moments of joy that grow and extend through the times we live in and beyond. |
