Shock is normal. When something big happens, allowing as much as possible for shock to lithely run its course can help us feel the experience more smoothly and with less fracture. We can actively embrace shock by practicing welcoming our whole range of thoughts and feelings, letting the moment come into and through us without needing to do too much about it. Yet, for any number of reasons, a state of shock can last longer than we anticipated or hoped for, or even know how to easily accept. What are some thoughts and feelings that you've had recently while in a state of shock? How do help yourself hold your thoughts and feelings with gentle acceptance for an extended time?
