Gift giving and receiving can be tricky, fun, disappointing, and more. Sometimes it's all of these all at once! There can also be a lot of pressure to participate in gift exchanges and to do it well, from the purchase to the presentation, wrapping, and even the audience. It may be difficult and take skill building to practice coming into our own right relationship with when and how we prefer and choose to partake in gifting. What have you learned about your own relationship to gifting over the years? [image description: Large bubble letters read: "All I want for Christmas is lube." Below that text reads: "Santa Claus won't make me happy with a toy on Christmas Day." A heart with a somewhat coy smile sits on the end of the bubble letters, leaning an elbow on one knee and resting its cheek in one hand. The background is filled with tiny hearts and polka dots.] #MindfulHearts RETROSPECTIVE ~ 12/27 ~ on this day 2022 2021 2020 2019 2018 ~ celebrating five years of daily cartoons ~

In response to the much-needed call for #COVIDCompassion, #MindfulHearts offers the sister chant of #QuarantineCompersion.
The art and skill of understanding the suffering of others and feeling and acting on the impulse to lessen that suffering goes hand in hand with the art and skill of feeling and acting on the impulse to nourish joy everywhere. May we all have moments of joy that grow and extend through the times we live in and beyond. |
