When it comes to making art, we don't have to make sense to everyone or even most people. We don't have to be perfect or do it the way others do it in order to do it well. Sometimes, maybe many times, we just have to enjoy what we're doing and bravely show others our own joy and process. Just being in our own practice with determination and gusto, taking the emotional risk of sharing our inner world, can change the world. What's a risk you've taken as an artist?

I'm really loving today's cartoon, friends. I used to hate drawing hands. When I was twenty-four years old, I worked hard and drew a technically accurate representation of a hand in a poignant way. But when I had to generally draw hands on figures I would feel annoyed and almost ill in my stomach because I had the recurring thought that my hands didn't look like hands. I am overjoyed to have come through to a new state as an artist of letting go and living into the freedom to draw hands however the hell I want. Blobs, wild scribbles, barely there — today, #MindfulHearts hands have so much life in them!
