Sometimes we think a thought so loudly in our own head that we aren't sure if we spoke it out loud to others or not. And at the same time, we may be scared to speak certain thoughts or to make noise of any kind that might seem odd or disturbing to others, or that might actually cause harm. Navigating our capacity to speak and make sound, to have a voice, can be an ordeal. What helps you have courage with your voice and the sound you make? [image description: Two hearts face each other. The heart on the left has a worried facial expression and thinks to itself, "Aaaaaaaaahhhhh you're so beautiful." The heart on the right is smiling and asks, "Have we met?" The heart on the left then speaks: "Oh, um, no. Hi." Text reads: "fomo — FEAR OF MOANING OUT"] #MindfulHearts RETROSPECTIVE ~ 12/8 ~ on this day 2021 2020 2019 2018 ~ celebrating four years of daily cartoons ~

In response to the much-needed call for #COVIDCompassion, #MindfulHearts offers the sister chant of #QuarantineCompersion.
The art and skill of understanding the suffering of others and feeling and acting on the impulse to lessen that suffering goes hand in hand with the art and skill of feeling and acting on the impulse to nourish joy everywhere. May we all have moments of joy that grow and extend through the times we live in and beyond. |
