Our breath is in many ways our most constant source of connection to our aliveness. Though breathing itself is not easeful and comforting for everyone, at all times, or for some, ever. Yet, we may all go through times when we especially need to be in close awareness of and relationship with our breathing. And perhaps every time we come back to our breath, we may also have an opportunity to catch our breath, and right there for a moment, to hold our own soul in the cradle of our own body. What do you notice about your breath right now?

Throughout the pandemic, I have posted messages on my Facebook wall that I needed to hear myself or that I imagined others may be needing to hear. Again and again, these messages spurred collective online processing of a range of challenges and lows and bright spots of living through the pandemic. This series of cartoons is intended to reflect on and illustrate some of the process of dealing with life by leaning into the intersection of technology and community. |
