Death is part of life. Death is also life. Though death may be sad and scary, we perhaps can orient most acutely to our full aliveness in moments when life and death converge. Being strongly connected to the living energy of the earth, literally feeling the ground with our body, our feet, our hands, our backs, sitting or lying in a field or in the woods, while grieving the death of a loved one, may offer a portal to feeling the aliveness of death. Share something you believe about the relationship between life and death. [image description: A heart with a single wild braid of hair reclines in a grassy field and looks up at the sunny sky with a facial expression of calm and possibly wonder. Text reads: "Day 10 of Mourning," and "Go outside. Sit low in the grass. Look up at the great open sky."] #MindfulHearts RETROSPECTIVE ~ 7/10 ~ on this day 2021 2020 2019 2018 ~ celebrating four years of daily cartoons ~

In response to the much-needed call for #COVIDCompassion, #MindfulHearts offers the sister chant of #QuarantineCompersion.
The art and skill of understanding the suffering of others and feeling and acting on the impulse to lessen that suffering goes hand in hand with the art and skill of feeling and acting on the impulse to nourish joy everywhere. May we all have moments of joy that grow and extend through the times we live in and beyond. |
