There may be meaningful connections between present actions and past losses, present grief and past relationship histories and endings. Getting more present and being more alive is an art and a practice in being curious about ourselves and our humanity and human experience. We may not see it in the moment, or we may, and either way, what happens after someone we love dies may be meaningfully linked to their death and to our broken, tender, and mending hearts. What has surprised you about your own grief? [image description: A heart with a single, wild braid of hair sits in the driver seat of a car and looks out at the viewer. Text reads: "Day 11 of Mourning," and "Sit in the seat of a car. Get woken up to more reverence for life."] #MindfulHearts RETROSPECTIVE ~ 7/11 ~ on this day 2021 2020 2019 2018 ~ celebrating four years of daily cartoons ~

In response to the much-needed call for #COVIDCompassion, #MindfulHearts offers the sister chant of #QuarantineCompersion.
The art and skill of understanding the suffering of others and feeling and acting on the impulse to lessen that suffering goes hand in hand with the art and skill of feeling and acting on the impulse to nourish joy everywhere. May we all have moments of joy that grow and extend through the times we live in and beyond. |
