Forgiving ourselves can be one of the hardest things we do. Even when we say we have forgiven ourselves, often it is in word only. That may be why when we appear to forgive ourselves quickly, or even too quickly, we are actually abandoning the deeper work of real internal amends and not experiencing a holistic or somatic-level self-forgiveness. What helps you do the challenging work of self-forgiveness? [image description: A large heart with a concerned facial expression looks in upon its own heart, which is frowning and slumped forward, and says to its own sad heart, "I forgive you." Text reads: "I make an effort to be generous with myself, too."] #MindfulHearts retrospective. On this day 2020. On this day 2019. Celebrating two years of daily cartoons.

In response to the much-needed call for #COVIDCompassion, #MindfulHearts offers the sister chant of #QuarantineCompersion.
The art and skill of understanding the suffering of others and feeling and acting on the impulse to lessen that suffering goes hand in hand with the art and skill of feeling and acting on the impulse to nourish joy everywhere. May we all have moments of joy that grow and extend through the times we live in and beyond. |
